Description: A rare collection of two authentic ethnographic pieces from the Naga people of Northeast India.

  • The Naga Rice Pounder: A tall, mushroom-capped pedestal featuring a rugged, sun-bleached texture.

  • The Communal Mortar & Pestle: A wide, low-profile vessel with a deep interior basin, accompanied by a heavy hand-carved wooden pestle. Both items are carved from solid, single blocks of dense hardwood and serve as exceptional sculptural elements for rustic or "Wabi-Sabi" inspired interiors.

 

Item 1: Naga Rice Pounder

Dimensions: Height: 33 inches, Diameter: 17 inches

Weight: 95 lbs (Solid Hardwood)

Condition: Antique/Primitive. Deep natural "checking" and age cracks throughout. Stable and structurally sound despite weathering.

 

Item 2: Communal Mortar & Pestle

Dimensions: Height: 22 inches, Diameter: 24 inches

Weight: 110 lbs (Solid Hardwood)

Condition: Antique/Primitive. Features a prominent, deep vertical age crack on the side. Pestle shows heavy smoothing from historical use.
