19th Century Hand-Painted Scandinavian Folk Art Blanket Chest

Description: A stunning piece of history, this antique blanket chest (circa late 1800s) is a masterclass in functional folk art. Constructed from solid pine with hand-cut dovetail joints, the chest features a deep forest green wash adorned with three hand-painted arched panels. Each panel showcases traditional floral urn motifs in a palette of terracotta, ochre, and slate blue.
The interior reveals the natural aged patina of the wood and original iron strap hinges. Elevated on classic turned bun feet, this trunk serves beautifully as a coffee table, entryway bench, or end-of-bed storage.
 
Condition: Excellent Antique Condition. Wear is consistent with age and use, including beautiful distressing to the painted finish and natural wood shrinkage. Hinges are secure; the interior is clean and dry. No key included.
