Antique Japanese 19th Century Bijin-ga Painting on Silk

$1,200.00Price
Quantity

Description: This striking Japanese Bijin-ga ("picture of a beautiful woman") captures the refined aesthetic of 19th-century Japan. Painted on silk, the work portrays a woman in a layered kimono with intricate textile patterns, standing near a low table with books and a vase—symbols of a cultured, literate life.

The piece is professionally matted and housed in a dark wood frame that complements the aged patina of the silk.

Good Antique Condition. The silk has natural darkening and "foxing" (brown spotting) consistent with age. No visible tears or significant silk loss. Frame shows minor surface wear.
