Mexican Folk Art Armadillo Dance Mask
Description: An authentic, hand-carved and polychrome-painted "Casco" (helmet-style) dance mask depicting an armadillo. This piece was specifically created for the Danza de la Mojiganga, a traditional celebratory dance known for its humor and vibrant characters.
• Origin: Pueblo El Mango, Guerrero, Mexico (Balsas River Basin).
• Artistry: Features classic geometric "triangular" scale patterns in a monochromatic and earth-tone palette, characteristic of the Guerrero folk style.
Good Vintage Condition. Shows authentic signs of age and ceremonial use, including minor pigment loss and natural wear to the wood edges (visible in the interior rim). The structural integrity is excellent, and the original hanging/binding twine is present.
