Description: Apiece of Chicago retail history, this side chair was originally retailed by the prestigious John M. Smyth Company, once known as the city's finest furniture purveyor. It features a classic George Hepplewhite inspired shield back with a beautifully carved wheat-ear splat and central medallion. The mahogany frame stands on elegant tapered legs with spade feet. Upholstered in a vintage sage-and-gold striped fabric, this chair represents the "Sustainable Luxury" of well-made vintage furniture that outlasts modern alternatives.

Good Vintage Condition. Structural integrity is excellent. The mahogany finish shows light, honest wear on the crest rail, consistent with age. Ideal candidate for custom reupholstery.
