Vintage Zapotec Handwoven Wool Rug - Oaxacan "Mujeres" Doll & Diamond Pattern
A vibrant piece of Mexican folk art, this hand-loomed Zapotec wool rug features a rare "Mujeres" (Women) pattern. The design showcases two stylized female figures in traditional dress, surrounding a central "Zapotec Diamond" which symbolizes the eye of God and the four cardinal directions. The deep burgundy field is accented by crisp white, slate grey, and black geometric "Grecas" borders. Hand-woven in the Oaxaca region, this flat-weave textile is durable enough for use as an accent rug or light enough to be mounted as a stunning wall hanging. The fringe is hand-knotted, preserving the authentic artisan finish of the Teotitlán del Valle weavers.
Condition: Excellent Vintage Condition. The weave is tight and structurally sound with no holes or heavy staining. Minimal edge curling consistent with hand-loomed wool; fringe is intact.
Size: Approximately 7’ Length (including fringe) x 4’ Width.
